Description

Midsomer Norton Town Park has been an aspiration for the town for over 40 years. In recent years the Town Council acquired the freehold of the site and planning consent for change of use from agricultural land to Town Park.

The park will be developed in phases over a number of years.

Funding has now been secured to undertake some initial phases of work, of which the works subject to this tender are the second element.

Some of this funding is time limited and has to be committed to a contract by 29th May 2019. This has dictated the tender return date of 23rd May 2019.

This package of work includes Landscape and civil engineering works to construct a stepped amphitheater, provision of new water and electricity supplies, culverting ditches, with gabion and mass rock block headwalls. Provision of new / improved access paths, re-grading / cut and fill, cultivation and seeding.
Some of the land has low levels of asbestos contamination. The works will not be licensable so do not require a licenced contractor, however the contractor will be required to work to an asbestos risk assessment and plan (method statement) and will need to employ suitably trained operatives.

Location: Land between Gullock Tyning and Wheelers Rd, Midsomer Norton.

Timescale for completion of the work: commencing after 13th July 2019 with programe to be agreed.

Tenders are invited from suitably experienced contractors as set out in the attached Invitation to Tender document. Tenders are to be returned in hard copy to the Town Council by 14:00hrs on Thursday 23rd May 2019
