Brief Description of Requirement

British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is an institute of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) carries out an ambitious and challenging programme of science on the Antarctic Peninsula.
Rothera Research Station is the largest British Antarctic facility, is a centre for biological research and a hub for supporting deep-field and air operations. Situated on Adelaide Island to the west of the Antarctic Peninsula the site includes the Bonner research laboratory, offices and workshops and a crushed rock runway, hanger and wharf.
https://www.bas.ac.uk/polar-operations/sites-and-facilities/facility/rothera/
Rothera Research Station, the centre for BAS air operations, has a 900m gravel runway. This air facility has a control tower and radar beacons. From here planes fly either directly to the field or via fuel depots to their final destination. Rothera also has a manmade wharf for ships mooring to transfer essential logistics to and from station during the Antarctic summer.
At present the JCB 531-70 telehandler is the prime vehicle, enabling station logistic cargo operations not only during ship calls but also through the Antarctic summer period (November-April). Prime daily machines works are to relocate cargo boxes, pallets and waste around station on predominately gravel roadways but can be snow covered during early and late ends of the summer season.
BAS now has a requirement to replace its existing JCB 531-70 Telehandler to ensure that operations at Rothera can continue efficiently.

Please ensure you review all attached information to ensure a full understanding of this requirement. All attachments can be found with the RFx attachments tab within the Emptoris System.

This contract will be awarded based on the evaluation criteria set out in the ITQ document.
