Description

Lot 1 - Description of procurement: In 2013 Haringey CCG commissioned a consultant-led community service to offer a one stop service for all appropriate ENT assessments, diagnostics and treatments. This service operates out of four sites in the borough and offers three main functions; triage, treatment and suppor/education for primary care professionals. An audiological community service is also provided for patients by Whittington Health. This is a complete audiovestibular service covering all non-surgical aspects of the 'ear'.HCCG wishes to re-commission a community ENT service to manage conditions that do not require specialist intervention at secondary level. This will enable improved patient flow through ENT services, and support the management of an increasing demand for acute services. Haringey CCG serves an ethnically and culturally diverse population of approximately 280,000 registered patients based in four geographic clusters. It has seven health centres and 39 GP practices. Lot 2 - In 2012 Haringey CCG commissioned a consultant-led community service to provide a one-stop ophthalmology outpatient assessment, diagnostics and treatment service for all non-urgent, routine ophthalmological conditions. The service also includes glaucoma and cataract refinement, as well as the care of stable glaucoma patients transferred from the acute. Complementing the community service, the borough also runs a Minor Eye Conditions and Low Vision Aids service with a number of local optical centres.HCCG wishes to re-commission a community ophthalmology service to manage conditions that do not require specialist intervention at secondary level. The CCG serves an ethnically and culturally diverse population of approximately 280,000 registered patients based in four geographic clusters. It has seven health centres and 39 GP practices. The most prevalent users of ophthalmology services in Haringey are older adults; with more than 35% of referrals involving people aged over 65. Lot 3 - Urology is a specialty specifically identified by the Department of Health (DH) as being suitable for the relocation of a large proportion of work from secondary to primary care under the "Shifting Care Closer to Home" Policy. Urological problems are common and create a significant burden of work for primary care. The community urology service was commissioned to offer a single point of referral for all urology referrals for Haringey patients. The one stop clinic is led by a specialist consultant, for all appropriate urology assessments, diagnostics and treatments. The community clinics are able to treat the majority of conditions, ensure shorter waiting times and provide local access for patients. HCCG wishes to re-commission a community urology service to manage conditions that do not require specialist intervention at secondary level. This will enable improved patient flow through urology services and support the management of an increasing demand for acute services.
