This advertisement is seeking Interested Conservation accredited contractors to reconstruct a fallen flint wall in Thaxted Essex.

  • Works required for the full reconstruction of an existing traditional flint wall. Approximately 5m long by 2m high. The scope includes dismantling, salvage and reuse of materials, rebuilding of the wall along the existing alignment with brick detailing and coping, as well as the removal and replacement of the existing foundation with a new reinforced concrete foundation and integrated retaining structure in accordance with the Structural Engineer's design.

    All works are to be carried out using traditional materials and methods, in line with conservation best practices and structural requirements.

    Works to be undertake under a JCT 2024 minor works building contract.
