Description

***This tender will close for the receipt of bids on
Friday 20 Oct 2017 at 14.00 BST***.

The Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is a world-leading multi-disciplinary science organisation, whose goal is to deliver economic, societal, scientific and international benefits to the UK and its people - and more broadly to the world.

The ISIS facility based at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) near Oxford is a world-leading spallation source producing neutrons and muons for an international community of over 2000 scientists conducting experiments in the physical and life sciences.

Over 600 axis of motion control are operated at the facility across the 34 neutron and muon instruments. Motion control systems are a fundamental part of enabling the instruments to be at the cutting edge of applied science. The aim of this bid is to select a supplier to supply motion control units for future motion projects and existing motion system obsolescence.'

Scope of Contract.

STFC intends to set up a call-off contract with the successful bidder that will allow for the purchase of various solutions, for a large range of motion applications.

Subject to satisfactory performance, the contract will last for 4 years. These solutions will be used to control new axes of motion and may also replace existing motion control units. The solution must be able to actuate a range of motor types and/or applicable motor driver amplifiers. It must also interface to various expansion modules as required - such as safety, I/O, and communication modules. Where applicable, and doing so achieves a cost benefit to STFC ISIS, the contract will be used to purchase these drives, modules, and further accessories.

Contractual Process for purchase orders.

• Requirement (including any customisation and inclusion of specific/additional modules and components that may be required) is identified by STFC and sent to the supplier.
• Supplier will confirm the price/lead time.
• If acceptable, STFC will then issue a Purchase Order (quoting the Contract Number) for that specific purchase.

DO NOT APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE BUYER Note : Please disregard any content in this notice that requests your organisation "to apply directly to the buyer" as this unfortunately a system generated error, that is outside of the Contracting Authority's control "
