Description

The award of this Tender will support the replacement of the current aging Neurophysiology telemetry system to allow the service to continue to provide inpatient EEG/Video Telemetry, ambulatory EEG and to develop a home Video/ telemetry service.
This will enable the service to continue to maintain the availability of this ambulatory service and avoid lost bed days which occur through equipment failure and bed pressures.
In addition to this the service will be able to introduce a home telemetry service, which will enable patients to have sleep studies undertaken in their own home rather than having to be admitted electively into PIU (Planned Investigation Unit), Burrator or Woodcock wards.
In the future it is anticipated that the system will have the ability to transfer data automatically from patient homes to the hospital but the first phase will involve the manual transfer of data on hard storage.
Undertaking sleep studies in the patient's home will avoid the ongoing risk of cancellations as and when PIU beds are unavailable.
