Description
FTC are seeking tenders for the preliminary design of three project options: 1) an essential refurbishment of an existing public facility including a theatre, function rooms and foyer/café area; 2) A major refurbishment of a public facility to upgrade the theatre to 350 seat capacity plus associated facilities and 3) the construction of a new public facility including a new 350 seat theatre and associated facilities . The scope of work will comprise the development of each option to provide outline designs, visualisations and presentation materials suitable for a public consultation.
Proven experience in the successful design of theatres and public buildings will be an essential selection criterion.

Q. Can you advise if the scope at this stage is to develop the three options to RIBA Stage 2 or less than that?
A. Stage 1+ level of works, so in essence some visuals that would usually fall into Stage 2 works but for the purposes of the public consultation are required upfront as part of the Stage 1+ contract.

Charcoal Blue will liaise and advise on all theatre performance related areas and acoustic criteria. All other aspects to be developed by the architectural design team

Additional question answered:
• FTC approached Charcoalblue as Theatre and Acoustics Consultant and will be appointed direct to FTC. Charcoalblue will lead the design of the performance, backstage and technical spaces.
• You will need to appoint an acoustic consultant for all areas outside of the auditorium/theatre box.
• You will need to appoint all other sub consultants including a QS.

The electronic copy will take precedents if any discrepancies apply.
