Description
A component part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) which is one of Europe's largest multidisciplinary research organisations supporting scientists and engineers world-wide. It operates world-class large-scale research facilities at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), Oxfordshire; the Daresbury Laboratory (DL), Cheshire; and the UK ATC, Edinburgh; provides strategic advice to the government on their development and manages international research projects in support of a broad cross-section of the UK research community: -
Suppliers are required by the STFC to provide engineering design and drawing services (ED & D) to RAL, DL and other associated sites. The work will be required to be carried out off site and then delivered to UKRI STFC.
UKRI STFC engineers and designers in all the above areas provide mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to all divisions. This involves working with scientists and other engineers to create new facilities from concept through to commissioning and operation. UKRI STFC currently uses a variety of CAD packages and the task of detailing designs is given to sub-contractors, either on or off-site, as and when the need arises. Suppliers are expected to follow the guidelines issued in the local procedures specific to the relevant department.
The requirement is divided in to two Lots;
1. Basic CAD and Drafting
2. Design and Engineering
The intention is to have up to a maximum 10 compliant bidders in each Lot that will be awarded a place on this Framework.
To achieve these desired numbers, bidders will be ranked as a result of the award criteria. All bidders that pass the pass/fail selection and award questions will then be evaluated on quality and price and the highest scoring 10 bidders will be awarded a place on the relevant framework Lot that they have applied for.
Bidders may apply for one or both Lots.
Once the framework agreement commences, mini-competitions will be conducted within the relevant Lot for the award of individual requirements.
