Description

GovWifi Prior Information Notice
Introduction
The Crown Prosecution Service currently operates a WAN across 40 sites in England and Wales. Over the course of the next 12 months we want to transition to GovWifi as part of ensuring that all services are available securely directly over the internet. We believe that using the GovWifi standard will be particularly valuable to staff who work in multiple locations and ensure that we work to a common approach across buildings which are shared with other public service providers.
Our assumption is that this transition to GovWifi will be best supported by working with:
1. A panel of internet service providers so that we can run mini-competitions to identify the ISP in each location that has availability and offers the best performance and value for money at the point at which we are ready to transition
2. A single vendor or reseller for the supply and installation of access-point and associated hardware coupled with a managed service for the support and maintenance of those access points.
3. One or more data cabling installers, who may be chosen separately or may be the same supplier identified in 2 above if that supplier can demonstrate effective provision of data cabling services.
We intend to monitor the performance of the Wi-Fi internally but expect that all failures will be detected by routing monitoring and proactively resolved by the suppliers without involvement of CPS staff except for access purposes when on-site engineering is required. This approach has been piloted and found to work well.
We are hosting an early market engagement session to explore this proposed approach and gather intelligence on how best to design this contract.
If you are able to confirm attendance or if you would prefer to receive the recorded event, would you please notify us by email to CommercialHardwareCategory@cps.gov.uk so we can issue the invite to you directly.
