Description
The community post-operative wound care service is for the removal of sutures and general wound care following secondary care treatment, including: hospital day case, inpatient procedure, or treatment in A&E or urgent care centre, where routine follow up is required. The operation or treatment was performed as a consequence of a referral to, or on-going care by hospital services.
The Provider is funded to provide:
• Episodes of suture removal
• Episodes of clip removal
• Episodes of other removal
• Episodes of wound care: dressing changes and wound management including all post-surgical or other dressings needs:
o Trauma (e.g. Lacerations)
o Infections
o Post-surgical burns
o Peri-anal abscess
o Pilo-nidal sinus
Exclusions:
• Complex wounds where the hospital is providing treatment for the patient in an outpatient setting
• Housebound patients
• Complex care; vasculitic, sickle,
• Lymphoedema
• Leg Ulcers
The service is expected to be nurse led but include HCAs in delivery and should operate out of a minimum of two sites over seven days per week. Clinics should be planned so they cross early mornings and late evenings with a mix of appointment based and walk-in services.
All dressing costs will be provided in addition to the contract value.
Premises, staffing and other related costs will be borne by the provider.
Activity contracted for: 10-11,000 attendances per annum. The anticipated contract commencement date is April 2019. The total duration of the contract including any extension will be 5 Years with an estiamted contract value of £500,000 for the duration of the contract.
NHS City and Hackney is keen to test the potential provider market for community post-operative wound care services.
Potential providers with relevant technical capability and experience to deliver this service are required to express an interest by completing the attached brief questionnaire and submitting by the deadline date if they are interested in bidding for this service should the CCG decide to carry out a competitive tender exercise and publishes a Contract Notice for this requirement.
