Description

UK Shared Business Services (UK SBS) on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) will shortly be approaching the market to formally tender for a Consultancy project on operability of the GB electricity system for REMA programme.

At present we are trying to establish if an Open (below threshold) or Call off from a Framework route to market would be most appropriate to secure a Supplier for the services required.

The overall project aims are:

The project aims to inform BEIS's consideration of the extent that existing policies can be relied upon to ensure that the provision of operability services for the GB electricity system is consistent with our objective for a decarbonised electricity system by 2035, subject to security of supply, which is reliable and cost effective. It will consider how the challenges posed to future operability can be most effectively addressed by examining potential areas of reform as identified by BEIS and informed by the contractor's assessment of operability issues. A key outcome will be to determine how system operators can make the transition from fossil fuel-based ancillary services to those provided reliably by low carbon energy sources, cost effectively.

To help support our decision on route to market, we have provided a full specification and supplier questions within the attachments section of this notice.

Your feedback would be gratefully appreciated.
