Description

Data on critical minerals markets is needed to provide BEIS with a clear and proficient understanding and interpretation of the key issues, drivers and impacts in minerals markets and potential implications for secondary markets including those associated with the energy transition.
Data on gas is needed for the International Energy Unit's (IEU) regular monitoring of European gas and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) markets, and interpretation of the key issues, drivers, price fluctuations and impacts in gas markets.

This information will enable the IEU analysis team to update colleagues across Whitehall on the implications of changes to mineral markets and gas markets to the energy transition, and to support discussions on price fluctuations, international trade and geopolitics, among others.

The purpose of this market engagement exercise is to understand if the market can supply the identified datasets and analysis in the format required that will enable the IEU/BEIS regular monitoring and analysis of key developments in critical minerals and gas markets.

We request your assistance in understanding the market's capability of providing data sets which we require for project delivery.
We have provided a questionnaire document and we would appreciate if you could complete these tables following the instructions and return your responses via email to internationalclimateandenergy.procurement@beis.gov.uk by 12:00 November 3rd.

We will use this information to inform a sourcing strategy for delivering these requirements, which may result in a future procurement competition.

The file attached contains two tables, one with a detailed description of data and analysis needed for critical minerals, and the other for gas markets.
We ask you to complete the last two columns of each table by:
1) identifying which indicators/data points/analysis you can provide or not;
2) providing any relevant comments regarding your answer to point 1 (e.g., can provide data but in different units/ format/other, can provide alternative X, suggested change to Y, etc).

We would also appreciate the inclusion of additional or alternative suggestions where appropriate if they are felt to better suit BEIS purposes.

Many thanks for your engagement in this information gathering process.
