Description
The Office for Product Safety and Standards will shortly be embarking on a full tender process to appoint a supplier to undertake:
1. Literature review and market analysis- A literature review covering prostaglandins in consumer products as well the currently available test methods for their detection and quantification. The contractor should also undertake analysis of the UK market, utilising the information identified in the literature review to provide a comprehensive market analysis as to the prevalence of prostaglandins in consumer products.
2. Method development - The development of a method suitable for the detection and quantification of the prostaglandin chemical/chemicals identified as those of interest. Option here to engage with other test houses, to determine the repeatability of the test method.
3. Product procurement and testing - working with OPSS, products will be identified from online and high street vendors for testing. The contractor will then undertake testing using the developed methods. The contractor will produce data tables for this, which will also be captured in the draft report (below)
4. Draft and final report - The contractor will capture all the other outputs in a final report and make recommendations regarding the findings and areas for future research.
At this stage the overall expected value of this project will be £20,000.00 excluding VAT
Prior to commencing this procurement exercise, we would like to take the opportunity to raise awareness for this project and engage with potential suppliers to ensure that we have covered all aspects that will be required and considered the markets input into the specification. To support this, we will be holding a supplier early engagement day via Teams on Wednesday 20th October 13:00 - 15:00, 2021 where we will provide an overview of the project, our expectations for delivery and indicative timescales for the procurement activity
