Brief Description of Requirement

The Office for Product Safety and Standards is looking to appoint a supplier to undertake:

1. Literature review and market analysis- A literature review covering prostaglandins in consumer products as well the currently available test methods for their detection and quantification. The contractor should also undertake analysis of the UK market, utilising the information identified in the literature review to provide a comprehensive market analysis as to the prevalence of prostaglandins in consumer products.
2. Method development - The development of a method suitable for the detection and quantification of the prostaglandin chemical/chemicals identified as those of interest. Option here to engage with other test houses, to determine the repeatability of the test method.
3. Product procurement and testing - working with OPSS, products will be identified from online and high street vendors for testing. The contractor will then undertake testing using the developed methods. The contractor will produce data tables for this, which will also be captured in the draft report (below)
4. Draft and final report - The contractor will capture all the other outputs in a final report and make recommendations regarding the findings and areas for future research.
