Description

INVITATION TO TENDER
For the Design & Build of a children's play area in Ware

Closing date and time for submission of tenders:
30/11/2021 - 12:00 midday

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Ware Town Council is to add to and redesign the existing children's play area that is situated in Priory Park, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 9AL. The site is situated in The Priory Park (see location plan at Appendix 1). The site is owned by the Priory Charity and the site's footprint is circa 1900m2 in size and contractors will need to fit all features of the project within this location.
The scheme will re-energise the existing facilities whilst adding new age-appropriate equipment to the play area. A number of equipment items will remain (as detailed below). The upgrading and regeneration of the children's play area will seek to re-establish a vibrant, varied focal point for families and carers in order to provide age-appropriate play and stimulus for 3-12-year-olds.
It is the intention to undertake a Design and Build contract for the works. The successful contractor will be responsible for finalising the design and delivering the construction stage of the project. This will involve several key deliverables including the submission a technical design, liaison with the Council & local community, ensuring a safe construction stage and warranting a smooth handover process.

PART 1
INTRODUCTION, TIMELINE & INSTRUCTIONS FOR TENDERERS

1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Ware Town Council (the 'Council') invites tenders for the design, supply, and installation of a new children's play equipment at The Priory Park, Ware (the 'Children's Park') with a budget of £140,000.00 plus VAT.

1.2 The purpose of this document is to give detailed instruction on the form of Tender to be complied with. Any tenders that do not comply with the requirements set out below may be rejected by the Council.

1.3 The site is owned by the Priory Charity.

1.4 The service and works required for the Children's Park are outlined in the Design & Build Specification at Part 2, (the 'Specification'). The successful tenderer (the 'Contractor') will enter into a Design and Build contract with the Council.

1.5 Predominately, the surfacing should be grass mats to reduce the budget allocation cost on surfacing. However, that is not to say that we will not look favourably on other surfacing that enhances the Children's Park. In addition, it may well be the area dedicated to the younger children may well have a different type of surfacing e.g., wet pour.

1.6 The following features should be addressed in the Children's Park:

• An area of approximately 12 metres x 7 metres (as shown in the plan at Appendix 2) should be left to be redeveloped in the future as part of the adjoining skate park.
