Description

In May 2014 it was noted that the majority of play equipment at Mentmore Park was worn but serviceable during our annual RoSPA inspection.

It is also considered that the play area has aged and offers little playability and is considered that the 10 principles for designing successful play spaces have been lost.

A successful play space is a place in its own right, specially designed for its location and in such a way as to provide as much play value as possible.

The public consultation successfully ran for two weeks from 27th April - 8th May 2015 and incorporated a number of questions which were promoted on our social media channels.

FEEDBACK FINDINGS

A total of 37 questionnaires were completed.

The public were asked to express their preference over which type of play equipment they wished to see by selecting from the following groups: Swings, Rocking equipment or 'Springies', Maze, Equipment for inclusive play, Zip wire, Slides, Climbing, Rotating equipment, Role play, Balancing Equipment, Mounding, Tunnels and Playground markings.

Feedback received, demonstrates that the preferred types of equipment in order of preference are: Swings, Climbing, Tunnels, Zip Wire and Rotating Equipment.

Therefore we require a play area to be designed and built to incorporate the above equipment.
