Description

Swanage Town Council

Swanage Seafront Ground Investigation

Tender proposals are sought from suitably qualified and experienced companies to undertake further ground investigation works to the spaces identified with blue and red outlines on the plan attached following on from the geo-environmental and geotechnical assessment undertaken by South West Geotechnical in 2014, see separate document.

The locations are subject to considerable ground movement which is readily apparent on the sites. The council are seeking to stabilise the ground in the open spaces and undertake a new beach hut development to replace the existing beach huts at the Spa.

This report identified that further work would be required which should include a thorough literature review, further detailed intrusive investigation, inclinometer monitoring, groundwater monitoring, and laboratory testing.
Please submit fully costed proposals to undertake the following and provide a detailed report in a digital format accordingly.
• Literature review of existing reports and publications
• Geomorphological mapping
• Installation of inclinometers and piezometers, allow 5 of each with 10 no boreholes in total.
• Window sample boreholes in the Spa beach hut complex
• Appropriate Laboratory testing including peak and residual strength parameters
• Stabilisation and foundation options appraisal.

Provide for all instrumentation and monitoring. Monitoring readings to be taken on a monthly basis for a six month period with an initial reference set of inclinometer readings after 1 week.

Proposals should be sent electronically to the following email address within the deadline:
