Description

The Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) would like to commission an external organisation to conduct research into the UKs contribution to the dumping of inefficient 2nd hand vehicles in Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) eligible countries. This research will consist of an at-port study to record the VIN and/or registration numbers of a sample of vehicles (this number is to be determined between BEIS and the commissioned organisation) and test a smaller number (around 150) for irregularities and the general state of the car at export, looking for vital missing parts which affect the efficiency and safety. BEIS will use the registration numbers from all the cars gathered at port to compare with the DVLA database on road worthiness, age and standard during it's last MOT inspection. BEIS would then require a short report of the findings.

An early market engagement session held on 26th January at 3pm, please email internationalclimateandenergy.procurement@beis.gov.uk to register interest.
