Description
LECCG dermatology services are currently provided only from secondary care. The main current providers are United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust, and North Lincolnshire and Goole.
The service excludes two-week wait and Tier-four patients. All other patients aged six and over will be referred to the community dermatology service for assessment, diagnosis and treatment, within a shorter time frame.
The service is a "proof of concept" and will be frequently evaluated and developed to inform the future commissioning requirements for dermatology. The term of the contract is for 12-18 months.
It is expected that patients will be assessed and treated quickly, closer to home, and where possible within a "One-Stop Shop" see and treat model.
The service should enable the delivery of:
Responsive and patient centred care
High quality and safe care
A standard and consistent dermatology service, available in the community, with equitable access
A service within the principles of "no delays" and a maximum 18 week referral to treatment standard
Referrals to dermatology services continue to rise, as a consequence of the increasingly ageing population, frequency of diseases such as skin cancer.
