Description

Dronfield Town Council seek a provider to formulate an innovative design of a new play area, and provide and install all equipment.

Cliffe Park is one of two large parks in the town. It incorporates sports facilities, a cafe and outdoor gym equipment, however the children's play area is now tired and in need of replacement.

The play area currently consists of swings, climbing frames, sand pit and a natural mound with large slide. Consultation has identified a desire for:
natural play taking advantage of the mound
better seating for carers
inclusive play for all ages and abilities
a creative and innovative design to provide an alternative to larger parks outside of the town.

The sand pit is not included in the refurbishment.

Submissions must include:
Risk Assessment
Public Liability Insurance
Health & Safety Policy
Method Statement
Fixed price quotation
Design drawings which can be shared with Council and community representatives.

The scoring criteria can be found in the tender attachments. Assessment will be made on a most economically advantageous basis.

Interested parties are asked to provide a costed design which falls within the budget and can be refined alongside the community through a detailed design process. The timetable for this process can be found in the tender attachments.

The design should take advantage of the landscape and not rely solely on prescribed play opportunities. It should create opportunities for imaginative play which flows seamlessly between the landscape and equipment. The design should provide opportunity for risk and challenge.

Designs should avoid the need to seek planning permission. Should planning permission be deemed necessary costs must remain within budget and completion must be by 31st March 2018.

Quotations should detail fixed costs for each element of the work. Including all preparatory work, supply, delivery and installation of equipment and surfacing.

£80,000 is the maximum budget available for the entire project. Cost savings achieved through re-use of existing equipment for example, will be looked at favorably.

Site visits can be made at any time as the park is open to the public. An appointment is not necessary.
