Description
The Homes and Communities Agency wish to appoint a specialist contractor for Ground Investigation Works at Hadston Industrial Estate.
The works include a ground investigation to provide detailed information on the ground conditions at the site to enable the design of foundations and to assess any geo-environmental risks to the proposed development, including from historical shallow mine workings, together with understanding any potential contamination issues on-site
The investigation comprises intrusive ground investigation works as outlined below and detailed within the associated Schedules and the Bill of Quantities:
5 No. rotary boreholes with ground gas/water monitoring installations to 30 m depth (3 No. rotary open hole to 30m bgl, 2 No. Openhole to 20m with 10 m rotary coring where coal encountered)
6 No. cable percussive boreholes with ground gas/water monitoring installations to 15 m depth or rockhead, whichever is shallower.
10 No. trial pits (machine excavated) to a maximum depth of 4m bgl
In-situ testing (SPT's and hand shear vane)
8 No. in-situ CBR tests
2 No. BRE Soakaway tests
Geotechnical and environmental sampling and laboratory testing
Reinstatement of excavations (like for like) where groundwater/gas wells will not be installed
Monitoring rounds (6 rounds over 3 months, including at least one visit in falling atmospheric pressure conditions)
1 No. round of post site works water groundwater sampling
Factual reporting
Contractors must have in place Public and Employers Liability insurance cover of £10 million and £10 million to undertake this Contract.
The contract will be awarded based on value for money. Tenders will be appraised on both commercial and quality submissions.
