Description
Earth observation helps with obtaining an understanding the processes that affect and connect with groundwater in areas where traditional monitoring is not practicable. Earth observation integrated with GIS to analyse features of the earth could help improve understanding of groundwater. Using the physical properties of objects to emit or reflect electromagnetic radiation, earth observations provide information on land use, type of crops, topography, geological features, groundwater-surface water interaction, surface and water temperature. Groundwater is intrinsically linked to surface processes and earth observations can help to target groundwater analysis and actions to improve groundwater environments.
