Description

Derbyshire Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (DCHS) is seeking bids for provision of a Breastfeeding Volunteer Support Service. The service shall offer coordination and management of voluntary support to women establishing breastfeeding throughout the geographical area of Derbyshire excluding Derby City.

This opportunity has arisen as a result of DCHS being successful in bidding for an Infant and Toddler Nutrition Peer Support Service commissioned by Derbyshire County Council (DCC). DCHS propose sub-contracting part of this bid to a voluntary sector organisation to support the management of a volunteer team. This is with recognition of the unique insight and support the voluntary sector can provide; particularly with regards their ability to understand the volunteer environment and to recruit, grow and sustain a volunteer network across Derbyshire.

The Breastfeeding Volunteer Support Service will sit within the wider DCHS Infant and Toddler Nutrition Peer Support Service and will contribute to reducing health inequalities and improving health and wellbeing for families in Derbyshire by promoting breastfeeding initiation and sustainment, providing support for healthy eating habits and a wider ambition to reduce childhood overweight and obesity.
