Description

Description of project:
The works involve the expansion of the existing temporary modular school site at Wynyard Church of England Primary School, Wynyard Estate, Billingham. School website: http://wynyardprimary.org.uk/homepage/

It is anticipated that the school will expand in 2 further phases: Phase 2 and Phase 3 to increase the teaching capacity of the temporary school while the new permanent school is being constructed nearby procured under a separate contract. The works are anticipated to start on 18th July 2016.

Phase 2: the addition of 1no. modular double classroom unit on-site with associated services and external works as highlighted in the drawing package as well as the services and foundations ONLY for a future single modular classroom unit. It is to be complete and ready for the school to open on 2nd September 2016.

Phase 3: is optional, if it is required by the Employer, it is to be complete and ready for the school to open by 4th September 2017. This involves the addition of 1no. single & 1no. double modular classroom unit stacked above the existing double modular classroom unit provided in Phase 2. This will include access stairs and extended services and further minor external works. Works undertaken in Phase 2 should facilitate works in Phase 3 where possible.

Planning & Building Control:

The Contractor shall be responsible for discharging any planning conditions contained within the planning approval including providing any drawings and supporting information as required.

The Contractor shall be responsible for submitting a Full Plan Submission application to Building Control as well as submitting additional details as required.

The Contractor shall also be required to apply for and notify Building Control for Site Inspections during the progress of the works and obtain a Completion Certificate prior to Practical Completion.

Procurement:

The procurement route will be single stage traditional procurement, form of contract will be JCT Intermediate Contract with Contractors Design (CPD will consist of the modular buildings, foundations, service connections and ground works) .

The tender response is formed of three parts which must be completed by all bidders;

Part 1 - Pass/Fail Criteria (refer to the attached document)
Part 2 - Technical Assessment (10% weighting)
Part 3 - Pricing Schedule (90% weighting)

The Education Funding Agency working with Durham Diocesan Board of Education is looking for a local Principal Modular Contractor to delivery this scheme. The procurement route will be JCT Intermediate Contract with Contractors Design (CPD will consist of the modular buildings, foundations, service connections and ground works) . We're looking for a strong Contractor capable of driving their design elements and to delivery on a tight time frame and limited budget whilst working around a live school environment.

The tender response is formed of three parts which must be completed by all bidders;
