Description

Highways England is seeking the provision of services to undertake research into weaving lengths, junction spacing and datum points. Specifically, this project will look at:
1) The suitability of current requirements for weaving lengths on motorway and all-purpose trunk roads for both urban and rural situations;
2) The scope of 'reserved lanes' in relation to weaving;
3) Minimum spacing requirements for dual carriageway to single carriageway transitions at lane drop/lane gain arrangements, as illustrated in Figure 1 below;
4) The suitability of the current requirement for the minimum spacing of priority junctions from the end of dual carriageway/single carriageway transitions; and
5) Datum points for All-Purpose Trunk Roads (APTR).
