BEIS, together with a number of other Public Sector Organisations, currently run a Holiday Playscheme that is available to all participating members of Public Sector Departments during term and half-term school holiday periods.
The contract is for three years, with the option for a one year contract and the provision is required to be in place for April 2019, ahead of the commencement of the May 2019 school half-term holidays.
The Scheme is primarily aimed at 4-12 year olds, providing a service throughout all school holidays and half-term holidays 8:30am to 5pm. It is not possible to accurately predict the potential demand for the scheme and the Authority does not guarantee take-up rates.
However, the maximum number of available places* is 90 per day (accommodation being the limiting factor) for each school holiday throughout the year (across the three sites) and on average there is 3,665 places* used per annum.
The three sites are:
• Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, 1 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0ET
• Department of Work & Pensions, Caxton House, Tothill Street, LONDON, SW1H 9DA
• HM Treasury, 1 Horse Guards Road, London, SW1A 2HQ
The current split of 90 spaces per school holiday across the three sites is:
• Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy: 42
• Department of Work & Pensions: 34
• HM Treasury: 24
* One Place is the provision of One Child for One day from 8:30am to 5pm.
This is a concession contract, BEIS and a few other eligible organisations currently subsidise the cost for employees but not all organisations follow this model.
