Description

Expressions of interest are sought for the 2019/20 Student Income and Expenditure Survey (SIES). This is the most comprehensive and authoritative assessment of the income and expenditure of students in Higher Education in England and Wales.
The most recent SIES was in the academic year 2014/15. This was a large scale survey covering around 6500 full-time and part time students in higher education, domiciled and studying in England and Wales across 84 universities and colleges. The survey was conducted online and/or telephone and included a 7 day expenditure diary. The results were published in March 2018 (English report). A copy of the report is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/student-income-and-expenditure-survey-2014-to-2015
The survey is expected to cover a representative sample of students to collect accurate estimates of all their income sources and expenditure including debt and how this differs depending on students' background and circumstances. The 2019/20 survey data will be produced to allow comparisons to be made with previous surveys in the series, most importantly the 2014/15 survey.
As the study will require a combination of extensive data collection and detailed analysis, prospective contractors may wish to consider forming a partnership of an established research agency with an academic or independent research institute, both with relevant experience
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN 23.59 ON THURSDAY 12th SEPTEMBER 2019
