Description

The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew are seeking to appoint a service provider to undertake Fire Risk Assessments for Kew Gardens (TW9 3AE) and Wakehurst (RH17 6TN).
Both sites are open to the general public throughout the year between 10:00 - 19:00 (BST) and 10:00 - 16:00 (GMT).
Both sites comprise the following building types including:
• Plant rooms containing higher risk assets eg. boilers, electrical LV panels adjacent to HV transformers, mechanical moving plant, etc.;
• Conservatories and greenhouses of glass construction;
• Agricultural outhouses;
• Office space;
• Science laboratories;
• Educational facilities and lecture theatres;
• Commercial and retail space;
• Underground basement areas;
• Archive stores for long term storage of specimens;
• Public restaurants and kitchens;
• Recreational facilities;
• Fuel storage facilities and on-site generators;
• Confined spaces and restricted access areas;
• Galleries housing valuable artworks; and
• Residential occupied buildings.

A number of buildings contain enclosed lift shafts. A high number of buildings are listed between Grade I and II and are of significant architectural value.

The project start date will be 1st October 2019
The project completion date will be 31st January 2020
