Description

The Forestry Commission will be awarding a contract for the development and implementation of a series of ten community focused events which will create celebrations based on their own histories and aspirations, exploring a range of creative skills so as to share, exchange and develop the stories that are specific to each of the chosen communities in the Forest. Our intention is to award this contract for a period of 4.25 years, from Dec 2017- March 2022.
The appointed contractor will need to identify ten communities in the Forest and work with them to draw out the key elements that represent and are important to that particular community such that these can be celebrated in appropriate ways using whatever means necessary. The definition of 'community celebration' in this project does not have to be about ten villages as one element could celebrate the community of Freeminers, for example (although it is anticipated that at least 5 of the communities will be villages). The rationale for selecting and specifying which communities will be used in the project forms part of this tender. Overall the range of communities selected should encapsulate what it means to be a Forester (and that term can itself be subject to many interpretations) so it is likely that this project will need to work with other project leaders within the Foresters' Forest programme.
