Description

Derby City Council is holding a market engagement event on Thursday 10th January 2019 at Cardinal Square, Derby.

The Council is seeking to work with a health provider to identify options for the future Residential Short Breaks service to support children and young people with special education needs and disabilities. Children and young people using the service have a range of multiple disabilities, complex medical needs and physical impairments and challenging behaviours.

The service is based on the following principles:
- The maintenance of a residential short breaks service at the Light House;
- The maintenance of the service offer to children and young people with the same range of needs as the current service;
- A commitment to fair and equitable access to positive social experiences i.e. outings etc. for all CYP including those with complex health needs;
- A commitment to service user safety and experience;
-The development of a financially sustainable model with a secure future.

What we want from you on the day:
On the day, in addition to the strategic outcomes (outlined in the Derby Vision for SEND) there will be both individual child specific and parent/carer outcomes that we will want you to consider, as well as:
- To think creatively and innovatively around the potential models for the delivery of this service;
- To engage actively in a workshop setting with both other providers and commissioners (opportunities for individual sessions with commissioners will be available)

Below are the questions to consider in advance of the session:
- What models might deliver this objective?
- What would the staffing for those models look like?
- What might the governance structure for each of these models look like?
- What are the opportunities and risks associated to each of these models?
- What would your preferred model be and why?
- How could social value be considered as part of the model?

However, should you wish to provide a response to the above questions prior to the event then please include these in your RSVP as detailed below.

RSVP is to be sent by email to: AccessToResources@derby.gov.uk with the subject header of 'Residential Short Breaks - Consultation event 10/01/19' by 12.00noon on Wednesday 9 January 2019 and should also contain the names and job titles of attendees for the Market Engagement Event.
