Metal and Associated Works
The provision of a wide range of metal and associated works repairs and maintenance services
This contract is for the supply of all aspects of metal and associated works repairs and maintenance services for the London borough of tower hamlets with sites throughout the portfolio of London borough of tower hamlets.
Area of work to be included but not limited to:
• Repairs to current Fencing,
• Repairs to all types of Gates
• Repairs and replacements to all types of benches and bins
• Installation of new fences, bins, benches
• Repairs to boundary fences and self-closing gates
• Repairs to brick walls, brick column's
• Lift and relay flag stones, copping stones, kerb stones
• Patch repairs to tarmac
• Decommission and making safe of playground equipment
• Emergency callouts
• Supply and install signs
• Supply and install bollards
• Secure buildings
• Supply locks and chains
• Key cutting
• Goal post and socket repairs/ replacement
The duration of the contract will be 3 years with an option to extend for a further 12months at the discretion of the Council subject to the service provider's performance.
The boroughs public spaces and services provided therein make key contributions towards achieving the council's strategic outcomes. Key aspects of the open space provision are:
Safety and Amenity- to improve and maintain the visual attractiveness of the public realm, and ensure the perceived and physical safety of facility users a visitors.
Recreation and Health- To provide and maintain a high standard of facilities for both active and passive users.
Education - To develop amenity open space as an educational resource for residents and visitors, promoting Environmental awareness and accessibility.
Children's play - to create a wide range of safe and stimulating play opportunities for the development and growth of all children.
There is a market for playground maintenance and this will be an open tender
The council follows a policy of active consolation with the community this can be done through liaison with:
• User groups
• Friends groups
• Park users
• Resident's associations
• Local schools
• Local tenants associations
• Partner organisations
The specified service is primarily provided for the benefit of residents. The council believes that shared objectives should be geared towards the delivery of:
• Residents /Client/Contractor satisfaction
• A Repair service which is efficient and Economic
• A determination to avoid disputes
• Cohesive image to residents i.e. Joint up working
• Simplified procedures that are monitored regularly
