Description

Cornwall has welcomed an initial three Syrian refugee families, as part of the Government's Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation Scheme. They are being supported by Students and Refugees Together (START) who provide a caseworker and help them access all the services they need.

The faith, voluntary and local community sector have already been very active in helping the families get to know people in their communities and helping them meet any other needs. Cornwall Council would like to enable the voluntary sector to continue to do this in a more coordinated way by providing a volunteer and community coordinator who would work alongside START.

Cornwall Council would like to hear from organisations that have the right skills, experience and capacity to deliver this service. The provider of this service will be an organisation who:
1. Has experience of coordinating and supporting volunteers
2. Has experience of community development (as defined as "a process where community members come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems")
3. Syrian Refugees can be of any faith or none, so the organisation will have very strong connections with a wide range of local faith groups and be able to deliver a service with a multi faith ethos
4. Has good relationships with the voluntary sector, local community groups, businesses and the faith sector in Cornwall
5. Has excellent communication skills
6. Has connections with local Arabic speaking volunteers and/or can provide Arabic speaking staff
7. Has their own transport
8. Is able to start to mobilise during mid-July

Please see the attached specification and RFQ document which the provider will be required to sign.

If you would like to submit a bid please email lfish@cornwall.gov.uk with the following information:
• An brief introduction to your organisation
• How you will deliver the specification and meet the 8 points above
