Description

With this procurement, the Contracting Authority intends to award a four year framework agreement for the provision of Theatre Capacity to enable the Contracting Authority and other named NHS Contracting Authorities in South London to undertake complex elective activity at the appointed Service Provider's facilities (the "Framework").
The service model is a "Mixed Model" in which the Contracting Authority will, in the majority of cases, provide the surgeon and anaesthetist (within NHS contracted time) and the Service Provider(s) will provide the rest of the pathway, from admission to discharge. The pathways must recognise minimum standards and protocols within the NHS for the relevant surgical procedures (in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Contract), whilst recognising where appropriate the Service Provider's own protocols and methods for meeting these minimum standards and protocols.
The framework agreement is structured into 8 Lots covering complex surgical procedures. There will be a maximum of two providers for each Lot. The highest scoring bidder in each Lot will be nominated as the "First Call" Service Provider for that Lot. In the event that the "First Call" Service Provider is unable to meet a booking request, the Second Service Provider in that Lot will be asked to meet the request. There is no guaranteed minimum volume for the First Call Service Provider or the Second Service Provider. The First Call Service Provider will be given first refusal on the sessions that are offered. Only in cases where the First Call Service Provider does not have capacity, will the Contracting Authority ask the Second Service Provider to meet the request.
Required Theatre Capacity will be booked on a rolling monthly basis through a central booking team. The booking team will co-ordinate all booking requests by the Contracting Authority and other named NHS Contracting Authorities in South London.
