Description
Medway Council will be re- commissioning specialist adult substance misuse treatment during 2017/2018.
Medway Council's aim is to build a specialist treatment system for adults experiencing problems with substance misuse that enables individuals to make the changes in their lives that will actively:
•Promote and sustain the recovery from substance misuse
•Engage and retaining adults in effective treatment to prepare them for recovery.
The Council is proposing to commission two distinct services:
Service 1- an Assessment, Engagement, and Treatment Service (AET)
This will be for adults experiencing problems with illicit drugs and/or alcohol. The focus will be on ensuring there are opportunities for engagement with treatment for adults with a dependency on opiates and/or alcohol alongside offering appropriate support and resources for adults experiencing problems with non opiates and/or harmful use of alcohol. The provider will be required to offer access to robust clinical service delivery to offer effective interventions to dependent opiate users and alcohol users.
Service 2 - Recovery Service
This will develop and make available access to a range of community based resources that promote and support the recovery from dependent substance misuse. The service will be based on the principles of peer empowerment, using a peer mentor model. We also welcome interest from providers from the non-specialist volunteer sector in this new service.
A formal market engagement event will be held on Friday 12 May 2017 at the Brook Theatre, Chatham ME4 4SE. The event will be divided into 2 sessions:
Service 1 (AET) - between 9:30 and 12:30
Service 2 (Recovery Service) - between 13:30 and 16:30
This event will be an opportunity for the Council to provide some further details in relation to this commissioning work, including areas for priority, themes for further discussion with providers during the commissioning process, initial consultation findings, and further detail relating to the commissioning timeline.
Further information can be found in the attached Memorandum of Information and appendices.
INSTRUCTIONS: Interested organisations should complete and return Appendix 5 and also confirm their attendance at the event by emailing peter.gates@medway.gov.uk and steve.chevis@medway.gov.uk by 10:00am Wednesday 10 May 2017. Organisations are asked to send no more than two (2) representatives to the event. Please include the job titles/roles of attendees and their contact details, to ensure the sessions are planned effectively and enable us to make contact with attendees should there be any unforeseen circumstances.
