Description

The National Infrastructure Programme (NIP) has two principal functions:
- To represent Highways England's interests in dealing with the delivery and operational impacts of major infrastructure projects delivered by other public and private sector developers: currently the High Speed 2 railway scheme and the Heathrow Airport runway and terminal expansion programme;
- To represent the Major Projects Directorate in developing the programme for RIS2 and to project manage the development RIS2 schemes through project control framework stages. The initial focus being on the proposed missing link within the Oxford to Cambridge corridor, the A66 Northern Pennines corridor and Manchester North West Quadrant.
