Description

The hire of an Amphibious excavator (22-30t) with Trailer Barge and Tree Shear Attachment for an approx. duration of 3-4no. months - indicative hire commencement/delivery date Sept' 2019.

The hire of a suitable rescue boat sufficient for the number of personnel on-site. Hire period, as above.

The operated plant shall be utilised to carry out improvement works in a marsh to create additional open water channels. The plant will be carrying out works in marsh conditions in a RSPB nature reserve and SSSI. The works will consist of excavating/dredging approx. 4,500m3 of reed bed/silt over 2,200m2 to form 2m deep open water channels and depositing the excavated material in formed bunds 1-1.5m high adjacent to the newly formed channels on top of existing reed bed. The machine will also be used for clearing to ground level approx. 1,200m2 of trees located within the existing reed bed, approx. 2,000m2 of existing willow woodland and 3,700m2 of reed bed which will enable the excavated material to be placed. A topographical survey was undertaken in February of 2018, and indicates a clear water depth in the area of the open water channels of between 100-200mm. However, the ground below this is very soft, and the marsh is subject to tidal variations, which on a normal high tide could raise the water level be approximately 300mm.

Cormac are seeking to initially shortlist a tenderer based on most competitive rates and ability to provide all equipment required and suitably experienced operators. It is our intention to work with the shortlisted tenderer to develop an appropriate methodology and programme of works, prior to formal award.

The works are located here:-

Please note the following:-

• All above operated plant will be operated in a marsh so will need to be converted to use Bio degradable hydraulic oil.
• The Amphibious excavator is required to have GPS capability to enable setting-out via the machine.
• The works are due to commence in September 2019.
• Approx. hire period of 3-4no. months.
• Operated plant rates to include supply of fuel and fuel tanks onsite are to be fully bunded.
• All operated plant to be washed to ensure free from mud and debris to prevent contamination of beach.
Any plant hire company must confirm their ability to attend site and respond to any breakdown or incident within 2 hours of Cormac Solutions Ltd making the request. Attendance must be on site within 2 hours due to tidal working and the increased potential of harm to the marine.
