Description
Hull City Council (The Authority) invites qualified and interested suppliers to tender for The Dismantling, Cleaning, Conservation and Re-mounting of 8 Skeletal Natural History Specimens at Hull Maritime Museum. The Authority is conducting the procurement using an Open Non EU procedure, as required by the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (SI 2015/102) (PCR 2015). The Service is anticipated to commence August 2020 for a duration of 3 years ending in 2023.
This scope of this project will be to take down the museums precious collection of Whale Skeletons and specimens. A full specification of the works required in this tender is included in Schedule 2 of the ITT - Part 1 - Specification, but will briefly entail the following;
1. Removal
Dismantle and pack the objects listed in the specification.
2. Transport
The contractor will transport the objects to their facility for conservation
3. Conservation
Conserve and pack the skeletons ready for long term storage
4. Transport & Long Term Storage [Arranged & procured by the client]
Once the contractor has completed conservation the client will arrange for the skeletons to be transferred to a long term storage facility. This element will be organised by HCC. The long term storage does not form part of this tender.
5. Design & Animation
Attendance by the contractor at up to 10 design meetings to plan the structure and animation of the skeletons when on display at the Hull Maritime Museum
6. Transport of objects from long-term storage to Hull Maritime Museum [Arranged & procured by the client]
The skeletons will be returned to Hull Maritime Museum
7. Installation
Mount making & Display, working with the design team and interpretation fit out contractor to display the skeletons in the new museum.
