Description

Raked seating
Value of contract: £50,000 - £60,000

As part of an overall upgrade to the facilities for performances at the Municipal Buildings, Dorchester Town Council wishes to install a retractable raked seating system in the Corn Exchange.

The specification would be to provide and install a high quality recessed system providing seating for a minimum of 144 audience members on the raked system itself, with options to provide further seating in front of the rake which can be used as required and stored separately when not needed. The system should provide upholstered individual seats (as opposed to bench seating), be power-operated and partial opening must be possible to allow flexible use of space. Costings for fascia panels, storage trolleys, rails and any other ancillary items must be included. Layout drawings and information on point and wheel loadings for the system should be supplied.

The under structure is to consist of steel components, welded and/or bolted together.
NB: columns to incorporate adjustable cantilevers. Fully welded system will not be considered.
Guidance system is to be of all steel construction.
Platform to platform interface to have nylon pads in row-to-row contact area, to minimise noise when the unit is partially loaded.
Contact with building floor to be with hard polyurethane tyre nylon wheels, with needle
roller bearings, minimum 4 per column.
Guarantee period for retractable unit must be minimum of 10 years.
