Description

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A RE-ISSUED REQUIREMENT

De Montfort University (DMU) invites bids from suitably experienced providers for the development of a biopsy device.

The SME Partner Company (Olberon Ltd) have developed a prototype vibrating needle biopsy device that uses the mechanism from a wind-up torch. The prototype device has a handle with a trigger that is gripped fully with a power grip (i.e. pistol grip) with the spring-loaded trigger being operated by the fingers.

Olberon would like to build on the research in this area by developing and launching a vibrating biopsy device product. The device should be manually operated for both capturing the sample and deploying the vibration (i.e. no electricity should be used). No formal size dimensions have been specified, but it is understood that the hardware for the device should be similar in size to existing biopsy units on the market.
