Description
For almost a century, Maida Vale Studios has served as an important asset in supporting the BBC's commitment to make the widest range of music available to widest possible audience. However, it is clear that the facility is no longer fit for purpose in supporting the BBC's future aspirations. As such the BBC prepares to welcome a new purpose-built home on the former Olympic site in Stratford, East London.
The new site, delivered in association with the London Legacy Development Corporation
(LLDC), bring partnerships with the V&A, Sadler's Wells and UAL is designed to house and facilitate the BBC's live music output from the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the BBC Singers, and the BBC's Rock and Pop output.
The project is split into two phases:
- The Shell and Core of the BBC building and masterplan for the site is being delivered by the
developer LLDC, the Construction Manager Mace, and the Architects Allies and Morrison.
- The BBC is responsible for the design and delivery of the Fit-Out of the space.
The project comprises 2 studios with control rooms, visualisation rooms, workshops and an edit suite complete with ancillary spaces.
Please see the Tender documentation for more details.
The works will be tendered on a single stage traditional tender basis. The response to the ITT will therefore be on the basis of RIBA Stage 4 design information which has been completed by the design team, this will need to be fully priced by the Tenderer.
The anticipated contract value is in the range of £13,000,000 and £14,500,000 .
Please be aware that the site is within the Olympic Park site that includes West Ham Stadium and the Aquatic Centre amongst other sites. The Contractor needs to accommodate for this in their Tender.
