Description

The School of Engineering, as well as other research groups in the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering, require Simultaneous Thermal Analysis capabilities to support a wide range or teaching and research activities. Both our current TGA and DSC instruments are broken beyond repair and therefore, we are looking to purchase a Simultaneous Thermogravimetric and Differential Thermal Analysis/Scanning Calorimeter Analyser. This will enable us to characterise materials and analyse the thermal behaviour of different samples under controlled temperature and atmospheres. Materials to be studied include but are not limited to adsorbents, biomass, biomaterials, catalysts, ceramics, inorganics chemicals, polymers and resins. Applications include, but are not limited to, study of melting and crystallisation processes, phase and glass transitions, purity determination, heat capacity measurements, kinetic analysis, mass changes, temperature stability, oxidation and reduction behaviours and thermal decomposition.
This purchase is being funded by the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering at Newcastle University.
The scope of this contract is for the supply, delivery and installation of the equipment detailed in Section 3.1 Technical Specification to the University, with after-sales support and 12 months warranty and maintenance, all training necessary for safe and reliable operation of the system and a complete set of operating and maintenance documents.
