Description
The Scottish Government is carrying out a wide-ranging review of the impacts of onshore unconventional oil and gas (UOG) extraction. This will inform a public consultation expected to take place in winter 2016-17.
The programme of research includes projects on transport impacts; decommissioning and aftercare; seismic monitoring; climate change; and economic impact.
The Scottish Government has asked the CCC to undertake the study on climate change impacts associated with UOG extraction in Scotland. As part of this study, the Scottish Government has requested that the impacts are assessed of Scottish unconventional hydrocarbon production on global emissions.
Aims and Objectives
The aims of the project are to assess net impacts on worldwide emissions of Scottish unconventional oil and gas production.
The focus of the tender, therefore, is not the production emissions associated with UOG extraction in Scotland, but the interaction between Scottish UOG and global emissions.
A description of the work is contained with the contract specification
