Description

The National Horizons Centre project is receiving up to £3.2m of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The Department for Communities and Local Government (and in London the intermediate body Greater London Authority) is the Managing Authority for European Regional Development Fund.

Established by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations. The National Horizons Centre development at the University's Darlington Campus will provide the vehicle to grow research and teaching in biologics, underpinned by new undergraduate, postgraduate and degree apprenticeship provision in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The state of the art infrastructure will provide facilities to develop high quality training and CPD activity, commissioned and informed by our industrial partners. NHC will also be the focus for interdisciplinary research across the interfaces of Health and Wellbeing, Digital and Creative Economies and Secure and Resilient Society themes articulated in the Teesside 2020 research strategy.
