The Medical Research Council are looking to purchase an anaerobic chamber to undertake necessary tasks within the London institute of Medical Sciences.
The anaerobic chamber will be utilised by supporting the research scientist providing the following:
1. Safely culturing of strict and facultative anaerobic microbes. The chamber will allow for strict control of oxygen tension but also humidity and temperature covering all the key requirements for growth of fastidious organisms.
2. The equipment will allow the utilization of other gases such as O2 and CO2 permitting users to set oxygen conditions to microaerophilic conditions such as hypoxia.
3. The equipment will provide a platform for the co-culturing of human cells and microbes in a safe environment
4. The equipment must be equipped with a touch screen with a with a set of programs to control for temperature, humidity and oxygen tension.
5. The equipment will provide easy access for complete decontamination allowing the protection of future users and quick exchange between users.
