Description

The Francis Crick Institute (the Crick) is planning to procure 3 Fermentor Systems, which will complement the existing equipment currently used in Mill Hill and Lincoln Inn Fields Laboratories to created the state of art Fermentation Facility. The cost-effective and on site services will include production and processing of large scale individually commissioned bacteria and yeast cultures for over 1000 scientists migrating to the new building. The requirements for 2 different working volumes of the vessels will ensure that the facility is able to cover the whole range of culture request from small scale (e.g. 10 litre) pilot / optimisation studies, to 100 litres runs for protein production.

The Crick is a newly created biomedical research institute formed by a consortium of UK's most successful scientific and academic organisations. The new institute site is currently being constructed next to St. Pancras International station in central London, due to open in November 2015.

The Media and Fermentation Facility form an important part of Laboratory Infrastructure, which provides essential enabling support to research, including specialist media production, sample management, research quality assurance and equipment care.
