Adult Learning Disability Services requires Providers to establish a Shared Lives Scheme on the Isle of Man which will include employing a co-ordinator and development of an infrastructure including start-up costs, recruitment and training of carers, provision of ongoing advice and support to carers and regular monitoring and review of placements. The provider will be expected to recruit up to 10 carers for whom a management fee will be paid.
Shared Lives includes:-

- support to adults (maximum of three per carer at any time)
This will be provided by a Shared Lives Carer approved by the Shared Lives Scheme, to adults placed through and supported by the scheme.

- Respite care / short break with or without personal care, in the Shared Lives Carer's home
- Daytime support provided by a Shared Lives Carer
- Kinship support where a Shared Lives Carer acts as 'extended family' to someone living in their own home and where both the homes of the Individual using the service and the Shared Lives Carer are available for contact
