Description
Background
The Authority wishes to redesign its intranet site to improve it both as a communications tool and also as a transactional tool to allow staff to undertake self-service tasks. The Authority's
current intranet is delivered in SharePoint and is designed and updated in-house.
• The Authority has one full-time SharePoint developer.
• Content is uploaded by business representatives (approximately 20 people working infrequently) and the Internal Communications team (two full-time staff members, one Head of and one Manager).
The current intranet does not have agreed architecture or governance processes, although there are only a limited number of users who can change the corporate and central records. Allocated local users can change and update local content. Unfortunately content is duplicated and often out of date across the intranet. The intranet also uses a traditional intranet architecture and has limited social interaction elements. Finally, the intranet does not really
act as a portal to surface self-service systems and it is hard to use the guidance on the intranet whilst trying to complete a task.
Requirements
The Authority is looking to work with the Supplier to redesign its internal intranet site which is used to communicate and engage with the Authoritys people and also to assist them in completing transactional processes. This is expected to be a SharePoint solution (as the Authority has a Microsoft Enterprise licence) which will be designed and delivered by the Supplier through a joint project team working with Authority staff.
