Description

Located on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, Diamond is a cutting edge facility for science, engineering and innovation. It is the largest science facility to be built in the UK for 40 years and produces ultra-violet, infra-red and X-ray beams of exceptional brightness. Diamond allows researchers from academia and industry to investigate the structure and behaviour of the world around us at the atomic and molecular level. Areas of investigation include fields such as medicine, the environment, materials and engineering science, physics, chemistry and heritage science. The research undertaken at Diamond brings economic, health and quality of life benefits to the UK and further afield.
The scope of this contract is to carry out manufacture, assembly, quality control and delivery to Diamond of 108 DL magnet mechanical assemblies for the Diamond-II storage ring, in accordance with this specification.
Detailed designs have been produced by DLS and the Supplier is expected to manufacture to print respecting the detailed tolerances. DLS welcomes feedback on manufacturability of the parts and it is expected there may be minor revision required to enable the manufacturing process to be optimised.
The supply of the permanent magnet blocks required for these magnets and their installation into the yoke and pole pieces are not part of this contract
