Description

Birmingham City Council in partnership with DWP are looking for a training provider to deliver a bespoke driver training programme for unemployed Birmingham residents aged 19+ with a full UK driving licence to become LGV Category C licence holders.

The initiative is in response to the growing driver shortage that is affecting the whole logistics sector and the project will deliver 3 cohorts of training to up skill and prepare a maximum of 30 candidates in total for driving roles within the logistics industry.

The successful supplier will facilitate participants in achieving a Class 2 LGV Category C licence, where medicals, tests, driving tuition and employability training will all be delivered. The programme must be designed to aid retention and candidates will be supported during this process and also if successful, once in employment - to help sustainability. The programme will include pre-employment training, a work experience placement and a guaranteed job interview.

Birmingham City Council, on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (Birmingham and Solihull District), invites providers to make an application to be considered to provide and facilitate the LGV driver training programme.

The contract has a maximum budget of £60,000 to deliver 3 training cohorts comprising a maximum of 10 candidates per cohort. We are looking for one provider to deliver all 3 cohorts.
