Description

Central Hall is the 3,372 sqm flagship building which will provide a compelling welcome and arrival space that connects, rationalises, and integrates the museum estate for the first time in its history. As an integral part of a programme of works called Our Masterplan, the building will form the critical connection between the existing museum halls and enhance the connectivity of the spaces. The design is ambitious, elegant and has sustainability at its heart.

The building incorporates an 800sq m exhibition gallery, the museum's main shop and café and improved visitor facilities. Included within the proposal are designs for the western landscape including a public pedestrian route from east to west through the site, a new services access road and accessible parking.

This project will be a pioneering example of sustainability in practice to help SMG move towards net zero carbon by 2033.

The landscape in front of the museum, called Museum Square, will be designed and delivered by the York Central delivery team representing NRM, City of York Council, Homes England and Network Rail.

The scope for this appointment will encompass:
Project Management and Contract Administration services to ensure the successful delivery of the Central Hall project at the NRM. This includes collaboration with other project managers delivering other projects which will require coordination with the Central Hall works.
